noyb β€” European Center for Digital Rights

Vienna-based non-profit enforcing the GDPR through strategic litigation across Europe.

noyb β€” short for “none of your business” β€” is a European non-profit founded by Max Schrems in 2017. They turn the GDPR from paper into practice by filing complaints, taking regulators to court, and challenging the data practices of some of the world’s largest companies.

# Why they matter to us

Belgian citizens benefit directly from noyb’s work: the Schrems rulings, the cookie banner complaints, the cases against ad-tech and Big Tech defaults. Without an organisation with the legal firepower to sustain years-long European litigation, data protection rights would remain mostly theoretical.

# Where we connect

  • Shared insistence that data protection law must actually be enforced, not just written.
  • Overlap on platform power, dark patterns and “consent” engineered against the user.
  • A practical pro-European stance on digital sovereignty grounded in rule of law.
